MULTAN, Feb 25: A forest officer, who got employment on the basis of a bogus FSc certificate 30 years ago, has been booked by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) for defrauding the state and robbing the exchequer of a huge amount.

The ACE sources said on Wednesday that Ghulam Murtaza Rahmani was a student of FSc at Khwaja Farid Degree College, Rahim Yar Khan, in 1973. Although he failed in the examinations, he got a bogus certificate and was employed with the forest department.

During the last three decades he got several promotions and also did his BSc and MSc. His fraud came to the knowledge of the ACE authorities when one Isa Khan filed a complaint against him.

Sources said at present the accused has been serving as Rawalpindi forest officer. The ACE sent his FSc certificate for verification to the Multan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education which declared it bogus. -APP
