GUJRAT, Feb 25: Two minors died of measles while five others were admitted to city hospitals with symptoms of the disease during the last four days, Mohla village residents said on Wednesday.

They told newsmen that labourer Fateh Muhammad's sons Hasnain (2) and Zaman (6), who had fever and small red spots on their faces and bodies, died on Tuesday. His third son also has the same symptoms, they said. They said Imran, Hamza, Arsalan, Waqas and Talha had been admitted to hospitals with fever and small red spots on their faces and bodies.

Residents said that the local health authorities did not provide any medical help to them when informed about the outbreak of the epidemic about four days ago. They demanded action against the health authorities.

A health department team, led by DDHO Dr Riaz Cheema, visited Mohla on Wednesday and vaccinated the residents. Dr Cheema claimed that the team found no signs of measles and apprehended that the minors died of diarrhoea.

Medical Superintendent Dr Tahir Abbas Gondal of the DHQ Hospital also denied the outbreak of the epidemic. He said that those hospitalized were suffering from diarrhoea. DHO Dr Inamul Haq and EDO (Health) Dr Talat Shah were not available for comment.

WARRANTS: A civil judge issued on Wednesday warrants for the arrest of two doctors of the DHQ Hospital. Doctors Ikram and Munir did not comply with the court orders to exhume the grave of Khalid Husain in Jalalpur Jattan.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A man died in an accident on Bahuwal Road on Wednesday. The car of Bashir collided head-on with a tractor-trolley coming from the opposite direction. As a result, Bashir died on the spot.
