RAWALPINDI, Jan 28: Additional district and sessions judge Sanaullah Malik here on Wednesday issued arrest warrants of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Banni police station for not complying with the directives of the court.

The district account officer was also directed to withhold the salary of the ASI, Iqbal Shah, who failed to produce the record of a narcotics case before the court despite receiving a show-cause notice issued from the court.

DEATH SENTENCE: The district and sessions judge, Abdul Qayyum Raja, handed down capital punishment on a man in a murder case. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on the convict, Mohammad Khalid, who will have to undergo another six months in jail in case he failed to pay the fine. The convict had been charged with killing Mohammad Zubair over a family feud in the jurisdiction of Kalar Syedan police.

SHOW-CAUSE NOTICES: Civil judge Ghazala Yasmin issued a show-cause notice to the SHO of New Town police station for not appearing in the court in a criminal case, due to which the hearing was facing inordinate delay.

The additional district and sessions judge, Suhail Ikram, also issued show-cause notices to the SHOs of Saddar Bairooni and Westridge police stations for not producing the records in two different criminal cases.

The additional district and sessions judge, Rai Mohammad Kharal, also issued show-cause notice to the SHO of Pirwadhai police station for not producing records in a criminal case in the court.

ACQUITTED: The anti-terrorism court No 2 acquitted 17 people involved in Islamabad district courts firing case after the two parties reached an out-of-court settlement.

According to the prosecution, the accused had exchanged fire inside the court premises after appearing in the hearing of a case. Five persons were injured in the incident.

STATEMENTS RECORDED: The same court recorded the statements of two prosecution witnesses in a firing case wherein a constable of Sector I-9 police station had been killed after he tried to stop a truck carrying the accused. The court also handed over the custody of the truck to its owner.
