BAHAWALPUR, Jan 15: Muhammad Naeem, an activist of a banned Jihadi outfit, was arrested by police from Ahmadpur East on Wednesday. A source said here on Thursday that a police and Elite Force raided drug shop of his brother Dr Younas in the city's main bazaar and took Naeem into custody , on suspicion of his alleged involvement in the attack on President Gen Musharraf in Rawalpindi on Dec 25.

It is learnt that Naeem had visited Afghanistan for several time during the Taliban era. Another activists, Yasin Amjad Bokhari, was arrested by the CID a couple days ago. However, local police sources have so far denied his arrest.

ROBBERS HELD: Staff of three police stations arrested five gunmen a couple of hours after the incident on Thursday. Cattle market contractor Naeem was deprived of Rs95,000 in cash by the robbers who were riding a car.

Naeem informed police soon after the incident and gave them the number of the car in which the suspects committed the crime. Police arrested them after a hot chase.
