RAWALPINDI, Jan 13: Two persons were killed in the city on Tuesday, police said. In the first incident, a woman was strangled by her husband in Pindora in the jurisdiction of the New Town Police Station, police said.

Police said Iqbal Hussain had been married to Shagufta Bibi some eight years ago and the couple had two children. The couple was having strained relations for the last few months.

Police said the accused Iqbal Hussain came to the police station and said his wife had committed suicide. But after interrogation he confessed to killing his wife.

The police said he gave sleeping pills to his wife and later strangled her with a rope. In the second instance, a man was shot dead by some unidentified persons who entered his house in Rawat.

Mahjabeen, the wife of Gul Amin, told the police that some unidentified persons entered her house and shot her husband to death and escaped from the scene.
