HYDERABAD, Dec 18: Water entered three houses of Murad Ali Shah colony due to a leakage in 24-inch-dia pipeline emanating from Paretabad filter plant lagoon here on Thursday.

On receiving the information, District Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil himself rushed to the spot and got the pipeline repaired under his supervision. The water from the houses was also drained out.

Director General HDA, Javed Junejo, Managing Director WASA Shoukat Hayat Bhutto, Project Director HDP, Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah and the engineers concerned also reached the spot.

JI slams power outages: Local Jamaat-i-Islami leaders Moulana Abdul Waheed Qureshi and Dr Saifur Rehman condemned power load-shedding of seven to eight hours on a daily basis and said that prolonged outages had destroyed the economy of the city.

They said in a statement that industrial production and trading activities had almost come to a halt and tens of thousands of workers had been rendered jobless.

They said that even education and normal work in offices had been badly affected due to prolonged power cuts. They said that despite the ongoing situation, consumers were being issued bills of huge amounts.
