LAHORE, Sept 18: PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi on Thursday accused the Punjab government of resorting to political victimisation by arresting over 175 party workers from Gujrat.

A press release quoted the former Punjab chief minister as saying that the provincial government had unleashed a wave of terror against the PML-Q workers throughout the province; it was at its worst in Gujrat – the hometown of Chaudhrys.

“These workers have been arrested, taken to torture cells and the FIR has been sealed. No one is being allowed to see them,” Pervaiz claimed and demanded that the chief justice of Pakistan take suo motu notice of ‘political and legal victimisation’.

The Punjab government knew that its days were numbered and was, thus, resorting to underhand tactics – tactics that would not pay the Sharif brothers, he said.

The party, he added, was keeping record of those DCOs and DPOs who had been chosen to be part of victimisation of the Q-workers.
