KHAIRPUR, Aug 9: The director general of Sindh Culture Department Monis Ayaz said on Saturday that the department was planning to construct cultural complexes in Larkana, Sukkur, Shikarpur and Khairpur to provide so that articles of cultural and historical import could be put on display there.

Talking to journalists during his surprise visit to Sachal Library and Sachal Academy the DG said that the department had released Rs5 million for the renovation of Sachal Auditorium Hall Khairpur, which would be completed by December 2008.

He said that the funds had been released on the orders of chief minister and directed the library administration to complete work on the construction of new building for library by January 2009.

The DG directed the administration to appoint a computer operator on daily wages for the time being and start the process of computerisation of catalogue.

The DG was informed that a manuscript of Holy Quran dating back to Mir Sohrab Khan Talpur era, the founder of former Khairpur Estate, had been moved from Sachal Library to Sindh Provincial Museum.

He said that the manuscript would be moved back to Sachal Library as the department had decided to shift historical belongings to their native district libraries.
