KARACHI, March 25: Two workers of the Muhajir Qaumi Movement were shot dead on Tuesday in separate parts of the city, party sources and police said.

Brigade police said unknown motorcyclists opened fire on a carom club in Lines Area, killing Naeem alias Machhera, son of Yasin. MQM Haqiqi said the 35-year-old victim was a party member and had returned to the vicinity recently.

It said the victim was married with two daughters and a minor son. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he was pronounced dead. Hospital sources said the man received multiple bullet wounds in his upper torso. A former unit in charge of the MQM Haqiqi was shot dead in Korangi.

Party sources said Mohammed Nadeem was the former in charge of party’s unit 76 in Korangi. They said the man was going in a rickshaw in J area when assailants sprayed him with bullets.

The police said the man was fatally wounded in the attack and he was first taken to a nearby hospital in the limits of the Korangi Industrial Area police.

Later, they said, the victim was transported to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Hospital sources said the victim received at least two bullets in his chest and face from a close range.
