KOHAT, March 11: A man convicted by the district and sessions judge of killing his uncle in 1996 was hanged to death in the district prison on Tuesday.

Inam Shah, son of Wazir Shah, had been charged by the Thall police with the murder of his maternal uncle over a petty dispute and he had been awarded death sentence by a local court on Oct 10, 2002.

He had challenged his conviction in the Peshawar High Court and then in the Supreme Court. His clemency appeal to the president had also been rejected.

He was hanged on early Tuesday in the Kohat district prison. His body was handed over to his relatives after postmortem.

The accident occurred when the truck was taking a sharp turn near the Barasingha point, killing Gul Habib of Landi Kotal on the spot.
