CHARSADDA, Dec 24: The Charsadda suicide bombing death toll rose to 57 as another person injured in the blast died in hospital on Monday.

He was identified as Yousaf Khan, a domestic servant of former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao.

Local people, however, put the number of dead at 65, saying a list of victims had been compiled at the Hujra of Mr Sherpao.“We have buried 65 bodies,” said Ihsanullah, who lost two brothers and as many nephews in the attack. He said that seven other men killed in the blast belonged to other villages and, therefore, the death toll was 72.

“Sixty-five of the dead were from the Sherpao village alone and we have prepared a list of their names,” Nazir Khan, a villager told Dawn.

He said that except for one elderly man and eight children all the victims were young men.
