LARKANA, Dec 17: WAPDA Chairman Shakeel Ahmed Durani held a meeting with District Nazims and DCOs of Sukkur and Ghotki districts at Circuit House Sukkur. The meeting discussed matters pertaining to the observations of local people regarding the land disputes on both sides of Rainee Canal and law and order. The Chief Engineer Rainee Canal Nazeer Memon briefed the meeting that the work on the canal had been undertaken at a cost of Rs 18.8 billion during October 2002, which would be completed by September next. Having a total length of 175 kilometres with 10,000 cusec discharge capacity, the canal will be able to cultivate an area of 412,000 acres of land.

The nazims of Sukkur and Ghotki suggested to WAPDA chairman that the problems of the local people should be taken into consideration and resolved.
