HYDERABAD, Nov 24: The chairperson of Pakistan People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto), Ghinwa Bhutto, filed nomination papers on Saturday for NA-204 (Larkana-I), the same seat for which president of Larkana chapter of PPP Ayaz Soomro had obtained forms on behalf of Ms Benazir Bhutto.

If Benazir decides to contest elections on this seat also, she will have to fight her brother’s widow, Ghinwa Bhutto.

As many as 478 nomination papers were issued and as many papers were submitted across the province for national and provincial assembly seats.

Four forms were submitted in Jamshoro and Matiari districts.

In Hyderabad 317 forms were issued, in Jamshoro nine, in Tando Allahyar 24 and 38 nomination papers were issued in Matiari.

According to the break-up of Hyderabad district’s constituencies, 32 forms were issued for NA-219, 40 for NA-220 and 30 for NA-221 while 40 were issued for PS-45, 68 for PS-46, 40 for PS-57, 28 for PS-48, 30 for PS-49 and nine for PS-50.

In Matiari two forms, one each for NA-218 and for PS-43 were submitted by two candidates while 38 forms were issued for the district’s three NA and PA seats and 10 forms were issued for NA-218, 11 for PS-43 and 17 for PS-44.

In Tando Allahyar, an independent candidate, Zafar Hussain Khaskheli submitted form for PS-51. A total of 24 forms were issued for NA-223 and PS-51 and PS-52. Of them 10 were issued for NA-223, 12 for PS-51 and 2 for PS-52.

In Tando Mohammad Khan, 21 forms were issued to candidates.

In Jamshoro, three forms each were issued for NA-231, PS-71, PS-72 and PS-73. One candidate Mohammad Umer Memon submitted form for PS-71.

In Nawabshah, a number of candidates submitted nomination papers for different constituencies. Former MNA and sister of Asif Ali Zardari Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho and district secretary PML-Q Syed G.M. Shah submitted nomination forms for NA-213 in the court of 2nd additional session judge whereas former PPP MNA Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah submitted papers for NA-214 in the court of 1st senior civil judge.

In Shikarpur, 56 more candidates obtained nomination forms including 17 for NA-202, three for NA-203 and 36 for four provincial assembly seats.

Prominent among the candidates were former PPP MPA Junaid Ahmed Soomro who obtained two forms for NA-202 and PS-11, and district president PPP-SB, Amir Bux Bhutto who collected a form for PS-11.

In Sanghar, no candidate of any major political party has so far filed nomination papers.

Meanwhile, former PPP MNA Fida Hussain Dero said that criminal cases had been registered against 97 PPP activists including frontline leadership of the district and most of them were behind the bars and the rest had gone into hiding.

In Larkana, Ghinwa Bhutto filed nomination papers for NA-204 (Larkana-I), the same seat for which Ayaz Soomro had obtained forms for Ms Benazir Bhutto.

In Qambar-Shahdadkot district no one filed nomination papers on Saturday. However, 29 forms were issued for NA-206, PS-39 (Qambar), PS-42 (Warah). Two former PPP MPAs Mujdid Isran and Najamuddain Abro obtained forms.
