HYDERABAD, Nov 9: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil laid foundation stone of Iqra Higher Secondary Girls School, Hali Road on Wednesday. The school will be constructed at the cost of Rs18.8 million.

He said the district government was spending 65 per cent of budget on development and promotion of education.

Naib Taluka Nazim Latifabad, Shujauddin Shaikh, number of Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors, EDO Works and Services and officials of the district government attended the ceremony.

Kanwar Naveed Jamil said educational facilities will be made available to every individual as it was the sine quo non for the development of a country. He said to improve the standard of education in government schools and to bring them at par with the well reputed private schools the district government had taken revolutionary steps in this direction.

He said 110 Urdu and Sindhi medium schools in the district had already been converted into English medium schools to facilitate the children of poor people. More than 100 new schools were under construction he said adding 350 schools had already been provided clean, cold drinking water, fans, laboratory equipments, computer labs and auditorium.

The District Nazim said educational facilities were not only being provided to urban but also to rural schools adding not a single village in rural taluka was without boys and girls school. He said it was now the duty of teachers to impart education to students considering it their national and religious duty.

Regarding the Iqra Higher Secondary Girls School, Kanwar Naveed Jamil said no such school existed for students of Hali Road, American Quarters and adjoining areas and female students used to travel long distance with sense of insecurity.
