LARKANA, Aug 28: The Awam Dost panel nazims on Tuesday filed a petition in Sindh High Court Larkana circuit bench against district nazim, naib nazim, district coordination officer and others for passing the annual budget of the district council in haste and without consulting the budget committee in violation of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance.

The petitioners—Ali Gohar Bhatti, Awais Abbasi, Barkat Shaikh—and others through their lawyer, Abdul Rashid Shah, said that the budget of the district council Larkana which passed on June 29, was illegal and in contravention of Sindh Local Government Ordinance.

The budget should have been scrutinised by the budget committee prior to be presented in the house but the committee, comprising of Awais Abbasi, Fayaz Hussaib Bhutto, was bypassed.

During the budget session rest of the business of the house should have been suspended but the convener allowed other matters on that day which was against the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, the petitioners said. The entire budget of Rs2 billion was passed without voting in just 15 minutes without any discussion, they added.
