HYDERABAD, Aug 21: Sindh province is rich in cultural heritage and craftsmen and artists of this land have always been advocating the cause of downtrodden masses.

Sindh secretary for culture and tourism Abdul Qadir Mangi said this while inaugurating a six-day painting exhibition on Monday at Sindh Museum Hyderabad, in connection with Pakistan’s 60th Independence Day celebrations.

He said that Sindh culture department would encourage and promote artists working for projecting true culture and lifestyle of all sections of society and craftsmen of this part of the country.

He appreciated the work done by many artists and hoped that they will further display objects focusing on the past and present conditions of various parts of the province.

Earlier, the director general culture and tourism, Shams Jafrani, welcomed the chief guest while director provincial museum, Ghulam Hussain Qambrani, highlighted the aims and objectives of the exhibition.

Ms Naseem Jalbani, curator of the museum, spoke about the works of the artists in the exhibition.The paintings on display in the exhibition were highly admired by people from all walks of life, who visited the exhibition. The participants of the event included Fateh Halepoto, Dr Mohammad Ali Bhatti, Agha Nadir, Ali Abbas, Nusrat Magsi, Ms Sajida Mahar, Fateh Daudpota, Ms Marvi Memon and others.

The exhibition is open, till August 26, from 10am to 6pm for general public.
