KHAIRPUR, May 12: Tension gripped of Tando Masti Khan and Ahmedpur after a man was killed in a clash between Phulpoto and Mari communities on Friday night.

Mr Gulzar was seriously injured in the clash and died on his way to hospital. His body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem.

Reports reaching here said that the killing was in retaliation for the murder of Ghulam Nabi Phulpoto, brother of PML-N District Secretary Ghulam Hyder Phulpoto, who was killed in Garhi Pull Mohalla on April 14.

Police have filed a case against Khanpur union council nazim Fazal Mari and a number of other people.Later, on May 10, some armed men opened fire on Wali Mohammad Mari, an influential person of Mari community and father of Fazal Mari in the area of B-section police station.

Wali Mohammad Mari had lodged a case at the B-section police station against eight people of Phulpoto community, including Ghulam Hyder Phulpoto and seven others.

Reports said that an uneasy calm prevailed in the area after the murder of Gulzar alias Koro Phulpoto.

According to Ghulam Hyder Phulpoto police were responsible for the tension because PML-N activists and Phulpoto community held a demonstration on the National Highway on April 22, demanding arrest of the nominated accused in the murder of his brother.

He added that police had assured arrest of the accused but did nothing since and now another man of his community had been killed.

One Ali Sher Phulpoto lodged on Saturday a case at Ahmedpur police against 13 people belonging to Mari and Kandhro communities. A spokesmen for the DPO of Khairpur said that police pickets had been set up in the Danwro and Tando Nazar Ali areas.
