VEHARI, May 10: The district administration along with tehsil administrations of Vehari, Mailsi and Burewala has made arrangements for taking maximum number of people to Islamabad.

A source said that over 100 air-conditioned buses would be impounded throughout the district.

According to a bus stand hawker, the traffic police on Thursday had impounded almost all air-conditioned buses.

Tehsil Nazim Mian Saqib Khursheed has already announced that 60 air-conditioned buses would take PML workers to the rally.

A source in the district administration said that employees of various departments, especially the education department, and union council nazims, naib nazims and councilors had also been directed to attend the rally.

PML-N leader and district council member Chaudhry Zahid Anwar Wahla claimed that the district government was spending over Rs10 million for the arrangement of people.

For this purpose, he said, every union council had been provided Rs150,000. He said each participant would get Rs2,000 while half of the amount would be given to them after the rally.

He said every MPA and MNA had been asked to arrange six and 10 buses, respectively. He said the Punjab government had already paid expenses to the parliamentarians.

MMA district president Eng Rafique alleged that the government was exerting pressure on its employees to attend the rally.

He claimed that some ruling party representatives were offering the people a free visit to Murree.

The cell phones of District nazim Syed Shahid Mehdi and naib nazim Yousaf Kasalia were found powered off when this correspondent tried to contact them.
