HYDERABAD, April 23: A large number of people staged a protest demonstration on Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road at Tandojam on Monday against registration of a water theft case against Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah, the nazim of Moosa Khatiyan Union Council. They also raised slogans against the irrigation officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq Sipyo, Hussain Bux Veesar, Anwar Kaleri and Ilyas Khokhar accused the Sindh government of victimising People’s Party Parliamentarians leaders and activists by implicating them in false cases.

They warned that if the case against Shafqat Hussain Shah was not withdrawn and the irrigation officials were not punished, they would again stage a similar protest sit-in on Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road.

Meanwhile, the growers of Tandojam staged a protest demonstration against the irrigation officials for not supplying water to the growers of R-4 watercourse emanating from Ghotana Shakh.

They accused the sub-divisional officer of demanding ‘extortion money’ for the release of water. They appealed to the chief minister to provide them justice.

Those who addressed the growers included, Allah Jurio Sehto, Mohammad Hassan, Shah Mohammad and others.

They warned that if water was not released in the watercourse, they would observe hunger strike unto death outside the Hyderabad Press Club.
