HYDERABAD, Jan 15: The All-Sindh Bus and Mini Bus Owners Association Hyderabad has appealed to Sindh High Court to either review its decision restricting buses from stopping at Tandojam or direct police to protect them from passengers who forced drivers to halt there.

The office-bearers of the association Mohammad Yasin Baloch, Shakeel Khanzada, Shabbir Ahmed and Malik Ibrahim said at a news conference at the press club on Monday that they were in reality on the horns of a dilemma.

If they did not stop their vehicles at Tandojam in compliance with orders, they had to face the wrath of passengers and if they did stop for fear of physical assault by more violent passengers, they risked getting their buses impounded by police, they complained.

They said that the order was issued after they moved the court against Rs10 per vehicle parking tax imposed by Tandojam taluka nazim for picking and dropping passengers.

The court not only ordered withdrawal of the tax but also decided that the buses would not stop at Tandojam, they said. They were trying their utmost to obey court orders but the passengers especially the students of Sindh Agriculture University forced drivers to pull over.

They said that they had been plying buses between Hyderabad, Tandojam, Tando Allahyar and Mirpurkhas for last 40 years and had never been charged any tax for a few minutes' halt at Tandojam.

They appealed to the Sindh High court to review its decision and save them from being harassed by passengers and direct police to provide them protection.
