All educational institutions in Peshawar will remain open on Tuesday, a statement by the city’s deputy commissioner (DC) has announced.

The statement, posted on Facebook, urged the public not to pay heed to any “fake notification or rumours” in this regard.

Educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s provincial capital remained closed on Monday amid road blocks following the imposition of governor’s rule in the province.

Police personnel remained present on roads in the city on Monday, with heavier deployment where the Cantonment limit began.

Meanwhile, TransPeshawar, which manages the city’s BRT transport system, has announced that services would be restored from October 13 (Tuesday). “Service will be provided as usual on all routes,” it said in a notice.

The district administration has also imposed a ban on gatherings in Peshawar for seven days under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

The order by the DC has also banned the display of weapons, and barred carrying spikes, ball bearings, laden batons, petrol bombs, or any instrument that could potentially be used for violence.

Educational institutions in DI Khan to remain closed

All public and private educational institutions in the district of Dera Ismail Khan, including schools, colleges and universities, will remain closed on Tuesday (Oct 13) under orders issued by the deputy commissioner.

A notification issued by the district administration said that all examinations and papers scheduled for Tuesday have also been cancelled.

The relevant departments and heads of educational institutions have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the orders.

DI Khan is one of the 12 districts were the Centre has also imposed emergency.

The Centre imposed governor’s rule in KP and emergency in 12 of its districts on Sunday, citing security situation and alleged non-cooperation of the now non-functional provincial government.

In days preceding the Centre’s move, tensions between the federal government and the PTI-led KP government had remained high, initially just over the party’s planned march to Islamabad to demand the release of its founder, Imran Khan, and later also over the Centre’s accusation that the provincial government was not cooperating on counterterrorism.
