KARACHI, July 22: Defending champions and favourites Wapda take on Sindh Whites in the opening match of the National Women Basketball Championship which begins at the National Sports Training and Coaching Centre (NSTCC) on Sunday.

Ten teams representing eight affiliated units of Pakistan Amateur Basketball Federation (PABBF) ad hoc committee are competing in the event. They have been drawn into two pools:

Pool “A”: Wapda, Sindh Whites, Punjab “Blues”, AJK, Police.

Pool “B”: Islamabad, Sindh Greens, Punjab Whites, NWFP, Balochistan.

Top two teams from each group will qualify for the pre-finals. The championship concludes on July 27. With the exception of NWFP, other outstation teams have arrived in the city for the event. NWFP is due to reach on Sunday.
