THATTA: A Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police constable drowned while pursuing suspected drug traffickers near Gujjo in Thatta district.

According to police sources, CIA personnel were chasing a speeding double-cabin vehicle carrying narcotics near Gujjo when the vehicle lost control and overturned into a drain near Shora Mori. Constable Abdul Mubeen Jakhro entered the water to apprehend the fleeing suspects and drowned.

His body was recovered and shifted to the Civil Hospital Thatta for post-a mortem. SSP Thatta Sajid Amir Saduzai stated that a police contingent recovered the vehicle and seized a large quantity of gutka-making material and narcotics. Two suspects, identified as Bagh Ali Brohi and Sahib Ali Brohi from Balochistan, were arrested.

Constable Jakhro’s funeral prayers were offered on Thursday with full official honours. A police contingent presented a ceremonial salute, with SSP Saduzai, ASP Abdullah Afzal, AC Shakir Fahim, DSP CIA Shahid Khan, and local citizens attending.
