NAWABSHAH, July 17: A family from the Landhi village observed a hunger strike outside the press club in protest against police failure to arrest culprits who tried to rape a girl on Monday.

Khuda Dino Kori told newsmen that some influential landlords of the village had barged into his house and tried to rape his daughter Pari.

He said that when they resisted, the assailants burnt their house and escaped.

He said that he had registered a complaint with police but they failed to arrest the culprits.

He said the accused were roaming freely and threatening them of dire consequences.

He warned that if he was not provided protection and the culprits were not arrested, he along with his family would commit self-immolation.

BOOKED: Police on Monday booked five people including two women for kidnapping a married woman.

Tahir Hussain Awan, a resident of Golimar, lodged an FIR under section 16 ZHO and 14 Tazeer at the A-section police.
