MANSEHRA: The Election Commission of Pakistan in collaboration with the district administration launched the delimitation process here the other day for village and neighbourhood councils ahead of the local government elections.

“Mansehra is among the seven districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where the delimitation process has begun, as under the new rules, we expect the number of village and neighbourhood councils to be reduced significantly from the existing 194,” assistant election commissioner Waqar Khan told reporters.

He said that the ECP in collaboration with the district administration and the assistant director of local government had initiated the delimitation exercise across the district.

“We have started procuring maps, training officials and constituting delimitation committees. These steps are expected to be completed by next week,” Mr Khan said.

He said that the preliminary delimitation of village and neighbourhood councils would be completed by August 28, 2026.

“The preliminary lists prepared by the delimitation committees will be displayed on August 29 to invite objections from the public,” he said.

Mr Khan said that objections to the proposed delimitations could be filed with the relevant committees from August 31 to September 18, 2026.

“The last date for communicating the decisions on objections is October 12, while the final notification of village and neighbourhood council boundaries will be issued on October 17, 2026,” he said.
