ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, has said that the government was committed to transforming Pakistan’s transportation sector through the promotion of electric mobility and the upcoming Battery Energy Storage System Policy, which will pave the way for an EV revolution in Pakistan.

He added that the local manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries was being promoted and the policy will attract foreign investment and create a sustainable industrial ecosystem.

He was speaking at the MoU signing between StarCharge Energy Pakistan and Bahum Global Ltd of China aimed at boosting the EV ecosystem.

Under the MoU the Chinese company Bahum Global Ltd will extend technological support and partner with the local company Star Charge Energy to establish EV charging stations across the country.

The MoU is the first major agreement towards strengthening Pakistan’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem through international collaboration, technology transfer along with local manufacturing.

The establishment of EV charging infrastructure across the country will support the growing adoption of electric vehicles as the expansion of charging stations’ network will make electric mobility more accessible and convenient for consumers.

Mr Khan said that the Government was committed to transforming Pakistan’s transportation sector through the promotion of electric mobility.

He said that the transition will reduce dependence on imported petroleum products, lowering the country’s import bill while promoting environmental sustainability and energy security.
