LAKKI MARWAT: District Development Advisory Committee Chairman Johar Mohammad Khan has asked the Peshawar Electric Supply Company to install a separate power feeder for the Dallokhel area to ensure an uninterrupted electric supply to residents.

He issued the directives during a meeting held at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Monday.

Elders apprised the lawmaker and officials of the district administration about the power-related problems faced by residents.

They said that the Aba Shaheed feeder was reserved for supplying electricity to the Dallokhel and Abbakhel areas. However, they said the authorities had linked the Dallokhel area to the Begukhel feeder a year ago to adjust the power load, thus subjecting the residents to excessive loadshedding.

“Residents get electricity for a few hours despite paying their bills regularly,” an elder claimed.

He demanded that Pesco reduce the duration of loadshedding during nighttime and halt supply to defaulter areas from the main transmission line.

He also asked the authorities to deploy a lineman for quick service delivery.

Deputy commissioner Hameedullah Khan directed the Pesco executive engineer to take up the issues with relevant quarters for prompt resolution.

He said that his administration would ensure uninterrupted electric supply to ‘honest’ consumers.

MPA Johar Khan said that installation of a separate power feeder would help resolve the load-shedding and low voltage problems.

He also directed the Pesco authorities to prepare an estimate for replacing the old Begukhel transmission line with a new one to improve electric supply to the rural localities.

Mr Khan said he would urge Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to release funds for execution of power-related projects.

ARREST: Police arrested three drug traffickers and seized narcotics from them in the Saidabad area of Karak district on Monday.

District police officer Imran Khan told Dawn that law enforcers recovered over 11 kilogrammes of hashish from the arrested men.

He said the Sabirabad police had registered a case against them under the relevant sections of the Narcotics Substance Control Act.

In a separate action, DPO Khan said the police arrested a man and seized an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from him.

He said police also raided a narcotics den and arrested two suspects with over three kilogrammes of hashish, 80 grams of ice (crystal meth), a shotgun and ammunition.
