RAWALPINDI: Rescue 1122’s water rescue teams continued efforts on Monday, the third day of the operation, to trace a six-year-old boy who drowned in Nullah Leh in Gulistan Colony on Saturday.

As part of the search operation, Nullah Leh was divided into three sectors, with the specialised water rescue teams carrying out scuba diving, boat and line searches, a Rescue 1122 spokesperson said.

Muhammad Zahid, 6, drowned after falling into Nullah Leh while playing outside his house in Gulistan Colony on Saturday. His father jumped into the water in an attempt to save him.

The body of the boy’s father, 36-year-old Mehrban Khan, was recovered the same day, while the search for the missing child continued for the third consecutive day.

The spokesperson said all available resources were being utilised to locate the missing boy, with Rescue 1122’s specialised water rescue teams continuing search operations at various points along Nullah Leh.

Earlier, on June 18, seven-year-old Wisal Farhad, a resident of Westridge III, accidentally fell into a drain while playing in the street and went missing.

His body was found floating in Nullah Leh near Gawalmandi on the third day of the search.

Wisal, a Grade II student at a local school, had been playing with other children when he slipped into an uncovered sewerage drain filled with garbage.
