PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has laid the foundation stone of a six-lane overpass at the Hazar Khwani Interchange on the Peshawar Ring Road here.

The project, being undertaken under the Peshawar Revitalisation Plan, is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs1.257 billion, according to an official statement issued here.

On the occasion, the chief minister commended all departments, officers and officials engaged in the implementation of the Peshawar Revitalisation Plan and said that the Hazar Khwani Flyover would not only benefit the residents but it would also ensure smooth traffic flow across the city.

“The people of Peshawar have rendered immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and have historically demonstrated exemplary hospitality by welcoming and supporting displaced populations from the merged districts and Malakand Division,” he said.

Mr Afridi said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained grateful to Peshawar residents for all that.

He said the Peshawar Revitalisation Plan represented the provincial government’s commitment to acknowledging and rewarding the resilience and sacrifices of Peshawar residents.

The chief minister said that the Plan encompassed a comprehensive portfolio of development initiatives, including flyovers, underpasses, link roads, canal patrol roads, modern urban infrastructure, street lighting systems, provision of clean drinking water and other essential municipal services.
