KHAIRPUR, July 10: A man drugged his 16-year-old sister-in-law and then criminally assaulted her when she came to stay in his house for a night, said the girl’s father in an FIR filed on Sunday.

The girl, Benazir Shar, was admitted to the Lady Wellington Hospital. Rasheed Ahmed, father of the girl, told police that he and her daughter stayed the night at his son-in-law’s house in Dabbar Mohalla.

His son-in-law, Shams Ali Shar, he alleged, gave them tea laced with intoxicating drug mixed and then assaulted her daughter some time in the night, he alleged.

CANAL BREACHED: Three villages and standing crops of wheat and sugarcane over more than 300 acres of land were submerged when the Nolakhi canal fed by the Rohri canal developed a 60-foot breach at RD-57 near the Nek Mohammad Bolani Sehto village, Sobhodero taluka, on Sunday night.

The breach flooded Nek Mohammad Bolani Sehto, Ali Rakhio and Mari villages.

Ghulam Hussain Chang, a farmer, held irrigation officials responsible for the breach and said it was the result of sheer negligence.
