CM Afridi, JUI-F chief Fazl urge affluent individuals to include poor in their celebrations
Mr Afridi extended heartfelt greetings to the entire nation, especially the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said Eidul Azha teaches sacrifice, devotion, love, and service to humanity, and on this sacred occasion, people should share their joys with the weaker and deserving segments of society.
He appealed to citizens to maintain cleanliness after the sacrifice and fully cooperate with relevant departments to keep the environment clean and healthy.
The chief minister also visited his native Khyber district and met with elders, party workers, and citizens.
Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that Muslims should not forget the oppressed people across the world, particularly those in Gaza, during the festive occasion.
Addressing a large Eid congregation in Abdulkhel, his native village in Dera Ismail Khan, he extended greetings to Muslims and said the occasion symbolised hope, unity and sacrifice amid an atmosphere of violence, oppression, deception and despair.
Mr Rehman said Eidul Azha taught Muslims to sacrifice personal interests and desires for noble causes.
He said whether it was the great Islamic obligation of Haj or the sacred act of sacrifice, Muslims around the world performed these acts solely in obedience to Allah without discrimination or social distinction, adding that such practices represented an excellent example of human equality.
The JUI-F chief also urged people to remember financially struggling families in Pakistan who were unable to perform sacrifices due to rising inflation.
After Eid prayers, the Maulana met citizens, exchanged Eid greetings and inquired about their well-being.
In Bajaur district, Eidul Azha passed largely peacefully as no incident of terrorism was reported from anywhere, residents and officials said on Friday.
However, at least 14 traffic accidents were reported in different parts of the district, leaving one person dead and 18 others injured.
Residents said that despite potential security threats, the Eid days passed peacefully.
District police spokesperson Israr Khan attributed the peaceful atmosphere to strict security arrangements.
“There were chances of sabotage activities during Eidul Azha in different areas of the district, but by the grace of Allah and due to the exceptional efforts of police personnel under the supervision of DPO Mohammad Khalid Khan, the Eid days passed peacefully without any terror-related incident,” he told Dawn.
In Chitral district, Eid was celebrated with religious fervour and traditional devotion, as major congregations were held at over 500 locations.
Huge prayer gatherings were held in Chitral Town, Drosh, Booni, Torkhow, Mulkhow, Shishi Koh, Terich, Nogram, Mastuj, and Garam Chashma.
During their Eid sermons, religious scholars shed light on the historic sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) of his beloved son to seek the pleasure of the Almighty.
The scholars emphasised that this monumental event teaches Muslims that submitting to the will of Allah is the ultimate purpose and final destination of a believer’s life.
Following the Eid prayers, the ritual sacrifice of animals commenced across the valley in accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim.
The joy of the residents was significantly enhanced by exceptionally pleasant weather, with the spring season currently at its peak across the scenic valley.
Meanwhile, a large number of tourists from different corners of the country reached the Kalash valleys of Bumburate, Birir and Rumbur for a picnic.
