PESHAWAR: Five terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with the security forces in the Darra Adamkhel tribal subdivision of Kohat district on Friday, security sources said.

They said that the exchange of fire took place during an intelligence-based operation carried out following information about the presence of terrorists in the area.

Security sources said that five terrorists were gunned down in the action. However, there was no official word about any casualties of security personnel.

“Security forces have cordoned off the area, and the operation is still under way,” they said, adding that the operation would continue until the last terrorist was eliminated.

Darra Adamkhel — a previously Frontier Region of Kohat, also borders Peshawar district. It is located some 55 miles south of the provincial capital.
