RAWALPINDI: City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani on Sunday delivered cheques and special letters to the families of Rawalpindi police veterans and martyrs.
Under the leadership of the city police officer, two new welfare projects - the Martyrs’ Welfare Filling Station Raja Bazaar and the Martyrs’ Welfare Filling Station Airport Road - were successfully completed last year.
The income generated from both the filling stations goes to the welfare of the families of the martyrs and veterans of the force.
In the letter, the CPO expressed his appreciation and good wishes and announced that monthly welfare cheques would be issued as soon as the martyrs’ welfare filling stations were reactivated. The filling stations had been inactive due to the construction of Kutchery Chowk remodeling project.
Officers of Rawalpindi police visited the homes of martyrs and deserving veterans and distributed the CPO’s written message and welfare cheques among them.
The families of the Rawalpindi police martyrs have been provided Rs15,000 per month while the disabled, seriously injured or veterans in need of permanent medicine and treatment have been provided Rs10,000 per month.
These welfare cheques are being given to them in addition to all government benefits and funds that they already receive.
Due to the temporary closure of the filling stations due to the Kutchery Chowk Marka-i-Haq Square remodeling project, payments were suspended for some time.
However, now that the filling stations are operational, issuance of welfare cheques has resumed on the orders of the CPO.
