LAHORE: Two suspected robbers and a police volunteer were killed, while a policeman was injured, during an alleged encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Rahim Yar Khan district.

A CCD Multan spokesperson said on Sunday the “encounter” took place in Taranda Muhammad Panah area during a raid conducted on a tip-off to arrest the members of Amin Boka gang.

He says the suspects opened fire on seeing the CCD team, triggering a crossfire that continued for several hours.

During the exchange of fire, alleged gang leader Amin Boka and one of his unidentified accomplices were killed.

A CCD volunteer was also killed in the “encounter”, while a personnel sustained serious injury. The injured man was shifted to hospital, where he is said to be stable.

Police teams from Rahim Yar Khan and adjoining districts also reached the area to assist the operation.

The spokesperson says Boka had long been wanted by police in more than 50 cases, including dacoity, car snatching and house robbery cases. Further investigation is underway.
