Shangla man kills wife, injures son over family dispute

SHANGLA: A man allegedly killed his wife and injured his son over a family dispute in the Shangla district, police said on Sunday.

The police said that the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident.

According to district police officer Shah Hassan Khan, the incident took place in the Shahpur area.

The man, identified as Afsar, armed with a pistol, allegedly opened fire on his wife, aged 55, and his son, Isa Khan, following a disagreement over something, the police said.

The woman died on the spot, while Khan sustained injuries in the firing.

A case was registered against the accused at Karora police station on the complaint of his injured son.

The police arrested the accused in a raid.

Meanwhile, the district administration on Sunday imposed Section 144, banning the use of chainsaws in an effort to protect the environment and stop deforestation.
