Sindh governor confers civil awards on 26 personalities

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi on Wednesday conferred presidential civil awards on 26 personalities of the province during a ceremony held at Governor House.

The governor, on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari, awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz to 12 personalities, Pride of Performance to one individual and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz to 13 individuals in recognition of their outstanding services in education, art and literature, journalism and other fields.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, members of his cabinet, senior civil and military officials and others.

Those who received Sitara-i-Imtiaz included Engineer Rukhsana Zubairi, Dr Shamsuddin Qureshi (posthumous), Fazeela Qazi, Savera Nadeem, Prof Karar Hussain (posthumous), Senator Sarmad Ali, Abdul Rahim, Shahjahan S Karim (posthumous), Dr Syed Mehmood Shah, Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Dr Mujeeb Sahrai and Ashraf Habibullah.

Mukhtiar Naz Taj Mastani was given Pride of Performance.

Those who received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz are Zakaria Muhammad Ismail Godil, Javed Rais, Abid Lashari, Dr Mumtaz Umar, Adil Abbasi, Kiran Naz, Erum Rizwan, Adnan Qadir, Khalid Mehmood Shaikh, Qazi Shujaat Qadri, Brig Khalid Khan Lodhi, Lt Col Syed Ali Asim and Lt Col Farhan Khero.
