NAROWAL: The condition of five members of the same family became critical after taking tea made with expired packaged milk at village Talwandi Bhindran on the Narowal-Muridke Road on Sunday.

Hurmat Ali, the spokesperson for Rescue 1122, said the control room had received a phone call from the village and a caller told that the health of five members of the same family deteriorated after taking tea made with expired packaged milk.

The rescuers reached the spot on time and provided first aid to the affected family members who were semi-conscious and complained of heart palpitation, nausea and vomiting.

After giving them first aid, the rescuers shifted all the patients to the District Headquarters Hospital Narowal for further treatment.

Hurmat identified the affected persons as 7-year-old Muhammad Ahmed, 14-year-old Iman, 18-year-old Mufra, 40-year-old Rehmana and 45-year-old Muhammad Zubair, the head of the family.

He said that the affected family was being treated at the District Headquarters Hospital, Narowal.

District Emergency Officer Engineer Aurangzeb has appealed to the citizens to check the expiry date of food items, especially milk, beverages and other food items, before consuming them.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tayyab Khan has taken notice of the incident and sought a report.
