GUJRAT: The Police have booked Gujranwala District Bar Association (DBA) General Secretary Haq Nawaz Hanjra and three others for hurling threats at traffic DSP and ransacking the windows of a police vehicle.
The case was lodged with the Gujranwala Satellite Police on the report of Traffic DSP Zeeshan Ahmed.
On the other hand, the legal fraternity announced a strike across the Gujranwala division today (Monday) against the move and termed it a baseless and fabricated case against the DBA official.
In the complaint, the DSP had alleged that he was on duty near the Dastgeer Chowk of Satellite Town on the evening of May 6 when traffic officials signalled a car to stop for having a fake number plate.
He claimed the driver hardly stopped and when he was told about the violation, he started hurling abuses and threats, manhandled the officials and also threw a Rs5,000 currency note on his face.
Later, he claimed that when he was sitting in his official vehicle, the driver made a phone call to someone. In the meanwhile, he claimed that a man later identified as Haq Nawaz Hanjra along with two unidentified men arrived and started hurling threats at him. They also allegedly broke the window of the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the Gujranwala DBA demanded to quash the FIR and sought the immediate transfer of the DSP for misbehaving with a senior lawyer.
