BAHAWALNAGAR: A woman turned out to be the alleged kidnapper and killer of her stepson, who had gone missing two days ago, and his body was later found dumped in a house in Quraish Colony area.

According to the Saddar police, Mursaleen (40) of Jhullan Araian married a widow, Nausheen Bibi, approximately a year-and-a-half ago.

Mursaleen had a 10-year-old son, Azad, from his first marriage, who lived with him.

According to the police, Nausheen did not have any children after her marriage with Mursaleen, and the couple would occasionally argue over the issue.

The police say that Mursaleen left home for work on April 25 following a quarrel with his wife, and when he returned in the evening, his wife and his son Azad were not there.

He kept looking for his son and his wife, and after failing to trace them, filed a complaint with the Saddar police, which registered a case under Section 363 of the PPC on April 26 and began to search for them.

On the afternoon of April 27, the police recovered the body of the boy, who was strangled to death, dumped in a Quraish Colony house, owned by Nausheen, who was still missing. According to police sources, a special squad was formed on the directives of Bahawalnagar DPO to trace the missing woman.

They said the team used CDR recording and other sophisticated investigation tools to apprehend the woman from her hideout in a remote area of Lodhran district.

The police claimed the woman confessed to killing the child during the investigation and told the investigators that her husband’s love for his son amplified her insecurity, caused by her infertility, which led her to kill the child.

She further stated that she lured the boy to the house in Quraish Colony that was gifted to her by her ex-husband and after subjecting him to torture, slit his throat with a sharp knife. She then escaped to her native town, Lodhran.

According to a police spokeswoman, after the woman’s confession, the murder weapon was recovered on her indication, and the body of the child was handed over to his father following an autopsy.

ROOF COLLAPSE: A seriously injured couple was hospitalised after the roof of their house collapsed owing to high-velocity winds and rain in Chishtian on Monday night.

According to locals, the roof of a house suddenly collapsed due to strong winds and rain in the Basti Lodhran area on Monday night. As a result, Javed (50) and his wife Rehana (50), who were asleep in a room, were seriously injured.

They were shifted to the Chishtian THQ Hospital, where their treatment was ongoing.
