HYDERABAD, June 28: Two members of Haq Parast Group, Raheel Kaimkhani and Amjad Hussain, apologised on Wednesday to the council members who were on token hunger strike for the second day running in protest against the June 21 incident in council hall, and persuaded them to end their protest.

The members of Awam Dost Panel (ADP), Yamin Soomro, Zahida Memon, Eshrat Pasha, Fehmida Nahyoon, Abbas Khan, Hussain Bux Hussaini, Mehboob Abro, Shafqat Shah and Saleem Jahejo said that they had forgiven their colleagues for what they did on June 21 because they too had shown repentance.

Mian Abdullah Sheikh, Ghulam Rasool Samoon, members of a committee headed by Zafar Ali Rajput, had talked to the agitating members a day before but their efforts bore no fruits.

When the session resumed on Wednesday, the convenor asked the committee members, Ghulam Rasool Samoon, Dr Arif Razmi, Afzal Shah, Mian Abdullah Sheikh and Rashid Khan to persuade their colleagues to end the protest and join budget debate.

The committee met the protesting members, who were sitting in Taluka Naib Nazim’s office and Rashid Khan requested them to accept their apology and attend the session.

To which, Hyderabad (rural) Taluka Nazim Khawind Bux Jahejo, Qasimabad Taluka Naib Nazim Hyder Shahani, Mehboob Abro and Yamin Soomro said they were ready to return if the two members responsible for manhandling their colleagues on June 21 apologize for their behaviour.

Mr Jahejo said that they were not being egotists but just wanted to make the members feel their guilt. He said that if they did not apologize he would be justified in thinking that the district nazim was not serious in settling the issue in an amicable way.

The committee after speaking to convenor told the protesting members that the two members would offer their apology in the convenor’s chamber but they did not agree to the proposal and insisted that the two apologize to them before media persons.

Following another round of negotiations, the committee brought Raheel Kaimkhani and Amjad Hussain with them who embraced Mehboob Abro and Yamin Soomro, offered their apology and brought them to the house where the session welcomed them by thumping their desks.

Yamin Soomro and Mehboob Abro suggested that a committee should be formed to discuss other issues in question and representatives of media should be inducted in it.
