TOBA TEK SINGH: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has revealed that 27 government departments in the Faisalabad region are its defaulters, collectively owing more than Rs3.471 billion in outstanding electricity dues.

Spokesperson Muhammad Saeed Raza said on Wednesday that Fesco has issued notices to these 27 department, asking them for immediate payment of the outstanding dues and warned of disconnection of electricity in case of any further delay.

He says the largest defaulter among government institutions is Faisalabad Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) with outstanding dues amounting to Rs1,942.49m.

It is followed by the Punjab Irrigation and Power Department, owing Rs179.79m to Fesco, while Punjab Scarp has pending dues of Rs78.59m.

He further says that the Mianwali Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital owes Rs75.58m, Sargodha THQ Hospital Rs59.11m, Ministry of Railways Rs52.66m, Bhakkar THQ Hospital Rs51.81m, Punjab Police Rs50.51m, Sargodha District Health Department Rs25.12m, Lyallpur Town TMA, Faisalabad, Rs24.83m, and Chiniot TMA Rs20.01m.

Similarly, Khushab TMA has to pay Rs19.47m, Jinnah Town TMA Faisalabad Rs19.44m, District Council Faisalabad Rs19.42m, Punjab Public Health Engineering Department Rs18.34m, Punjab Health and Population Welfare Department Rs18.28m, Toba Tek Singh TMA Rs17.97m, Toba Tek Singh District Health Department Rs15.83m, Bhalwal TMA Rs15.53m, Jhang THQ Hospital Rs15.34m, Madina Town TMA, Faisalabad Rsl 14.19m, Khushab THQ Hospital Rs13.62m, Jhang TMA Rs11.14m, Punjab Livestock & Dairy Department Rs11.08m, Jhang Basic Rural Health Rs10.43m, while other departments collectively owe Rs665.12m to Fesco.

Fesco Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muhammad Aamer has directed the company staff to accelerate the recovery campaign against defaulters, ensuring full recovery. He warned that no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.

He appealed to all the defaulter government institutions to fulfill their national responsibility by clearing their outstanding dues immediately, otherwise, Fesco will be compelled to disconnect their electricity connections without showing any leniency.

BODY FOUND: The body of a 55-year-old man, who had gone missing, was recovered on Wednesday from a wheat field in his native Chak 98 JB village, Kohli, Gojra.

A police spokesperson told reporters that the deceased, Mansha, who ran a cloth shop in the village, had gone missing two days ago. His family apprehended that someone kidnapped him.

On Wednesday, his bullet-riddled body was found in a wheat field near the village.

On being called a police team reached the crime scene and after collecting evidence shifted the body to Gojra THQ Hospital for autopsy.

DPO Akhlaqullah Tarar also visited the village and assured the family of the deceased that justice would be done to them and the killers arrested at the earliest.

Meanwhile, at Gojra, an 18-year old girl was allegedly abducted on Wednesday at Chak 420 JB.

Complainant Haq Nawaz, stated in the FIR registered by Gojra Saddar police under section 365 of the PPC that his daughter ‘S’ was alone at home when unidentified persons barged in and abducted her.

The police are investigating.

ROBBERY: Robbers allegedly snatched women’s hair, used in making wigs, worth more than Rs1 million from a man near Chak 363-JB, Painsara Road, Gojra.

Complainant Shahzaib of Sargodha claimed in the FIR registered by Gojra Saddar police that he had purchased the women’s hair from different places and was on his motorcycle when two armed bikers intercepted him.

He alleged that the robbers snatched the hair, cash and mobile phone from him and sped away.

QURAN CLASSES: All divisional model colleges and divisional public schools in Faisalabad division will hold classes where students will learn the Holy Quran by heart, along with their regular studies.

This was announced by Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar, who said the Quran memorisation classes are being started with immediate effect so that the aspiring students could memorise the Holy Quran in public schools and colleges as well.

In this regard, he says, steps are also being taken to recruit the Quran teachers in these institutions.
