The work is being carried out at a cost of Rs50 million.

The Sindh chief minister had ordered the pumping water into the lake for providing relief to local fishermen, farmers and people living in areas adjoining the lake.

Sukkur Barrage chief engineer Agha Aijaz Ahmed and superintending engineer Ghulam Haider Qureshi have held meetings with farmers, local people and fishermen at the Danister canal.

They collected suggestions for using water for drinking and agriculture.

They also visited parts of the Manchhar bund.
