NAWABSHAH: Six were killed and more than 40 others injured on Wednesday in different accidents at the National Highway near Qazi Ahmed, Sakrand and Kandiaro.

Two identified as Mohammed Arif and Mohammed Ghous died on the spot whereas 17 others, including Waqas, Nazia, Mehtab, Danish, Ahmed, Shahenshah, Asma and Rameez, received injuries when a Karachi-bound coach overturned due to speeding near Khabar Stop on the highway near Qazi Ahmed.

The bodies and injured were shifted to the taluka hospital of Qazi Ahmed.

In the second accident, a woman named Ms Malaika and her son Zakriya were killed on the spot whereas four others, including Urooj, Fatima, Ariya and Khadija, seriously injured when a car going to Peshawar collided with a coach near Chandan Mori at Qazi Ahmed.

The bodies and injured were shifted to the taluka hospital of Qazi Ahmed.

In the third accident reported from the National Highway near Panjon Mail Stop, Sakrand, a coach heading towards Karachi from Mansehra overturned. One person died on the spot while 15 passengers, including Mehtab, Abdullah, Nadia, Danish, Abdul Rasheed, Waqas, Rafiq, Waqar, Husna and others received injuries.

The dead, who could not be identified immediately, and injured were shifted to the taluka hospital of Sakrand.

In the third accident, a man identified as Ameen Keerio lost his life when a trailer truck hit him while crossing the National Highway near Kandiaro, district Naushahro Feroze.

Keerio returned home from Karachi to celebrate Eid with the family.

Local police arrested the driver and impounded the truck.
