Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says that Iran has tried to avoid war through diplomacy, but aggression from the US and Israel “has left us no choice but to defend ourselves”.
In a post on X addressing neighbouring countries, the Iranian president writes: “We respect your sovereignty and still believe that the region’s peace must be ensured by the countries of the region.”
