DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Tank police arrested a three-member gang allegedly involved in robbery incidents, recovering motorcycles, cash, mobile phones and a weapon during an operation on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, DSP city circle Imran Khattak said over the past few weeks several complaints had been received regarding motorcycle snatchings, robberies and street crimes within the limits of the city police station.

He said the police traced multiple cases and arrested three suspects, identified as Mehran, a resident of Dab Qulikhel, Nauman and Mutiullah, residents of Dheri Abakhel. He said police recovered three motorcycles, a battery taken away from a mosque, two mobile phones, a pistol and Rs74,000 cash.

TWO KILLED: Two people, including a nine-year-old boy, lost their lives and another man sustained injuries in two separate road accidents on Dera-Chashma Road the other day.

A dumper truck struck a pedestrian, identified as Jameel, near Kokar area. He died on the spot.

In a separate incident near Head Bilot on the same road, a collision between a car and a motorcycle left a motorcyclist, Mohammad Ramzan, seriously injured, while his nine-year-old son was killed in the crash.

Rescue 1122 teams shifted the bodies and the injured to hospital.

Separately, a man was shot dead by his son over a money dispute, police said on Friday.

The police said the deceased, Shafiullah Marwat, 55, had refused to give cash to his son, Gul Saleem Marwat, and scolded him, which led to a heated exchange. In a fit of anger, the accused opened fire on his father inside their home. He was immediately shifted to hospital but succumbed to his wounds on the way.

The police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the deceased’s wife, Shouda Bibi, and initiated further investigation.

Meanwhile, Dera division commissioner Mohammad Dawood has vowed no leniency to those found violating the law during Ramazan.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Maulana Qari Mohammad Umair Farooqi, JUI-F Dera city general secretary.

The cleric called for practical steps to ensure effective implementation of the Ramazan Act.

The commissioner said the district administration was making comprehensive arrangements to facilitate citizens during the sacred month.
