KARACHI: The third edition of Sea Guard 2026 exercise began under the auspices of Pakistan Navy (PN) here on Monday.
The exercise, which will continue till Feb 9, is a national level effort by the PN to bring together representatives of diverse maritime sector ranging from shipping, fishing, law enforcement and private sector entities to collectively counter multi-faceted challenges in maritime arena.
It aims to synergise the efforts of all stakeholders to ensure safety and security within the maritime zones of Pakistan and beyond.
The activity includes conduct of various scenario-based exercises along with discussions for rehearsing and improving mechanism of maritime protection along Pakistan’s coastline.
Speaking on the occasion, Commander Coast Vice Admiral Faisal Amin applauded the efforts of all stakeholders for participating in the exercise and acknowledged the proactive role of media in promoting maritime awareness at national level.
During the opening brief, participants were apprised about the working methodology and efficacy of the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre.
PN officials, leadership of government sector organisations and representatives from private and fishing sector attended the briefing.
