BANNU: Bodies of three people, including a village council chairman, were found in different areas here on Saturday.

The police said bodies of a village council chairman, Aamir Surani, and his companion, Sodais were recovered from the latter’s hujra located in Bazida Kokalkhel Surani area.

He said a case had been registered at Basiakhel police station on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Shah Rukh, against unknown suspects.

According to the complainant, unidentified individuals killed both the men inside the hujra for reasons yet to be determined.

Meanwhile, another man, identified as Naeemullah, was found murdered inside a car near Surani Park. A separate case was registered on the complaint of his father, Maulvi Abdul Raouf, a resident of Jahangir Lalozai Surani, against unknown suspects.

Police said that the motive behind the killings had not yet been ascertained.

Meanwhile, in view of the potential threat of terrorism during the anti-polio campaign, the district administration has imposed Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code. Deputy commissioner Mohammad Fahim Khan issued an order, imposing a complete ban on certain activities in Bannu from February 1 to 7.

The decision was taken following a report received from the Bannu district police officer, highlighting the upcoming OPV National Immunisation Days polio campaign scheduled from February 2 to 5, and security concerns due to past terrorist attacks on polio teams and police contingents.

Display of weapons, pillion-riding and use of tinted glass in vehicles have been strictly banned. Violators of this order will be proceeded against under Section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code.
