LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday killed six ‘highly dangerous’ terrorists during an intelligence-based operation near Chapri Dam in the Chapri area of Mianwali.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the department had received a credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area, who had completed planning to carry out attacks on police and other state institutions.

Acting on the information, as the CTD teams launched a targeted operation, the terrorists opened fire on the personnel who retaliated promptly.

“In the ensuing exchange of fire, six terrorists were killed, while eight others managed to escape from the scene,” the spokesperson said.

He said the CTD recovered a large cache of arms and explosives.

He said the process of identification of the killed terrorists was underway, while a search operation had been launched to arrest the fleeing militants.
