LAHORE: Daughter of Bushra Bibi, the incarcerated wife of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, on Friday approached the Lahore High Court against the Adiala jail authorities for not allowing her to visit her mother.
Mubashra Khawar Maneka filed a petition before the court, listing the inspector general of prisons, the superintendent of Adiala jail, Rawalpindi, and others as respondents.
The petition, filed through Lahore High Court Bar Association President Malik Asif Nissoana, pointed out that the Adiala jail administration had barred Ms Maneka from meeting her imprisoned mother without providing any written reason to the petitioner.
It said that despite Ms Maneka being a blood relation and Tuesday being the designated day for meetings, permission was not granted to the petitioner to visit her jailed mother.
It pleaded that the petitioner, being a daughter of Bushra Bibi, is deeply concerned about her mother’s physical, emotional and psychological well-being.
The petition argued that the actions of the jail authorities amounted to mala fide intent and misuse of authority.
It asked the court to issue directions to the respondents for an immediate meeting of Ms Maneka with her mother.
Bushra Bibi is serving a seven-year sentence in the £190 million corruption case.
She was recently handed down 17 years imprisonment in the Toshakhana-II case, which contains charges of purchasing an expensive jewellery set gifted to the former prime minister Imran Khan by the Saudi crown prince during his May 2021 visit.
