Balochistan police chief doubles financial assistance for families of martyrs

QUETTA: The Balochistan police chief has announced a comprehensive and historic increase in financial assistance and welfare benefits for the families of police martyrs, serving personnel, retired employees and their children.

Inspector General Muhammad Tahir said the welfare of police personnel and the families of martyrs was among his foremost priorities. “The sacrifices of police martyrs were a guiding light for the force. Completing their mission and easing the difficulties faced by their families and police employees is our first duty,” he emphasised.

Under the enhanced martyrs package, immediate financial assistance for the families of martyrs has been increased from Rs100,000 to Rs200,000. Compensation for personnel seriously injured in the line of duty has been raised from Rs10,000 to Rs100,000, while assistance for those sustaining minor injuries has been increased from Rs5,000 to Rs25,000.

The IGP said burial assistance for martyrs had also been substantially enhanced. Funeral expenses within the province have been increased from Rs40,000 to Rs75,000, while the amount for transporting bodies outside the province has been raised from Rs50,000 to Rs100,000. An additional Rs20,000 to Rs25,000 has been allocated for other burial-related needs.

Immediate relief amount increased from Rs100,000 to Rs200,000

Marriage grants for police employees have been increased from Rs12,500 to Rs50,000. Assistance for the marriage of daughters of martyrs and deceased officials has been raised from Rs50,000 to Rs200,000, while marriage grants for two daughters of serving or retired employees have been increased from Rs25,000 to Rs100,000.

IGP Tahir also announced an increase in monthly financial assistance for widows of deceased employees. For employees in grades 1 to 11, the amount has been raised from Rs7,500 to Rs12,000; for grades 12 to 15, from Rs8,750 to Rs14,000; and for grades 16 to 17, from Rs8,750 to Rs14,000.

The annual allowance for police officers has been increased from Rs10,000 to Rs16,000, while for officers up to grade 18 it has been raised from Rs12,600 to Rs20,000. The annual allowance for their children has also been increased from Rs12,000 to Rs18,000.

The IGP announced that tuition fees of children of police employees who secure admission on merit in cadet and residential colleges of Balochistan will be paid from the Police Welfare Fund. In addition, special cash prizes will be awarded to children of police employees who secure top positions in matriculation and intermediate examinations under the Balochistan Board, including Rs50,000 for first position, Rs40,000 for second and Rs30,000 for third position.
